McDonald’s released the Big Mac to the world in 1967 and the future of mankind was forever changed. OK, maybe not that dramatic but it is iconic. Sure, it was ripped off from Burger Chef and sure it has changed a lot over the years. Now, it is a shadow of its former glory but we can fix that. Make it at home, in your own kitchen! It’s way better and cheaper!

Authentic Big Mac Sauce Recipe

Use this recipe for all your Big Mac at home adventures. Yes, this is the real recipe. It is NOT Thousand Island! No, it does NOT have any ketchup in it.

Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup Mayo
  • 1 tbsp Yellow Mustard
  • 2 tbsp Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1/2 tsp Distilled White Vinegar or apple cider vinegar if you prefer
  • 3 tsp Sugar
  • 3/4 tsp Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/8 tsp Turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions
 

  • Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate. That's it!

Notes

This really is the recipe for Big Mac Sauce. It was based off of tartar sauce. Many places in the Midwest were putting tartar sauce on burgers back in the 1960’s so McDonalds took that idea and added some mustard and paprika. Mystery solved!
